The procedure is carried out by injections that precisely target the areas. These injections block certain chemical signals from nerves. This produces natural looking results. However, it is not a permanent fix and often lasts around 3 or 4 months.
Treatment must always be carried out by an experienced, qualified medical professional. If administered incorrectly, the treatment can be dangerous.
When preparing for your treatment, it is important that your healthcare provider has a current list of medications you take. Certain medications such as blood thinners increase the risk of bruising at the injection site. It is important you are honest about your medical history.
Unless told otherwise, you can return to work and most activities after treatment. To reduce swelling or bruising, don’t rub or put pressure on the area for 12 hours. Also, stay upright for three to four hours and avoid physical activity for 24 hours.
If you wish to minimise bruising from your injection, it is recommended that you use an ice pack. The best time to ice the area is the day before treatment. Apply it on your skin for at least 20 minutes. Additionally, alcohol makes you more prone to redness and bruising. You should avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours before.
